Assessment Structure:
Format: The EISA typically comprises written examinations. For NQF Level 2, candidates who are not proficient in English may request interpreter assistance. NQF Level 5 assessments are conducted in English, and candidates are expected to have the necessary language proficiency.
Content: The assessment focuses on the Exit Level Outcomes and Associated Assessment Criteria specified for each qualification, ensuring that candidates demonstrate the required occupational competencies.
Preparation Resources for ESA Exam:
Exemplars: Sample assessment papers are available to help candidates familiarize themselves with the format and content of the EISA. These exemplars can be accessed through the Assessment Quality Partner (AQP) or training provider.
Special Accommodations:
Language Assistance: Candidates at NQF Level 2 who require language support should inform the AQP at least three months before the assessment to arrange for interpreters. NQF Level 5 candidates are expected to undertake assessments in English.
Physical Impairments: Candidates with physical or other impairments should notify the AQP well in advance (minimum three months) to facilitate necessary accommodations during the assessment.
Assessment Fees:
As of 2020, the EISA fee is R500 per candidate per session, totaling R1,000 for two papers. Candidates facing financial challenges may apply for a fee reduction by contacting the AQP.
Scheduling:
EISA dates are scheduled periodically. For instance, the EISA for the Occupational Certificate: Christian Religious Professional (SAQA ID 101571) was scheduled for 16 November 2023. Candidates should consult the QCTO or their training provider for upcoming assessment dates.
